On Saturday, April 27th from 10 am to 2 pm, the St. James Sheriff's Office and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration will be hosting the National Prescription and Over-The-Counter Drug Take Back Day. This event will be held at the St. James Sheriff's Office (5800 Hwy 44, Convent, LA 70723) and Vacherie Sub-office (2631 Louisiana Highway 20, Vacherie, LA 70090). You can bring any unneeded, expired, or unused prescription or over-the-counter medications to be disposed of safely and in accordance with State and federal law. Collection sites will not accept syringes, sharps, and illicit drugs. Liquid products, such as cough syrup, should remain sealed in their original container. The cap must be tightly sealed to prevent leakage. This initiative helps prevent the potential misuse of these potentially dangerous medications, whether intentional or accidental.![]()
